Years ago I had all engineers unlocked, elite status in trade and exploration, and multiple system permits (my home was Jameson Memorial).
After they made the change to engineering, I lost all but 2 engineers. My fully upgraded FSD went from 5G to 3G, and my shield went from 4G to no engineering at all. Frontier Dev support said it was impossible to happen, and they couldn't do anything to help me back then. Recently, I found out I had proof that it happened, and shared it. They still refused to admit it happened.
Last year I traveled halfway to the center of the galaxy, and ended up with the route plotting bug that wouldn't let me plot a route more than 1k Ly at a time, and max 12 Ly jump range (mostly 8 or 10 Ly). After they said it wasn't possible (even though it's a bug from back when the game first launched), they saw the video on Twitch where I had streamed it. They said they didn't know what caused it. Then after downloading 4.0, I realized it fixed the bug. However, I lost almost all of my system permits, and all of my elite ranks.
So, I strongly recommend taking a screenshot of your ranks, system permits, and all of the engineers you have unlocked before the update. Obviously, having proof doesn't mean they will fix it. But it's worth a shot.
