A couple of improvements I would like to see

Hello, community!
After around 70 hours I would like to spare some little suggestions I would like to see added to the game. I only left the last biome, so I think is a good chunk of hours to have an idea

Farming and food:

The food system is kinda nice, but the low-level food required for a high-level one becomes quite frustrating pretty quickly. Here are a couple of suggestions:

  • Make lower-level food farmable/obtainable after around 2 biomes you found it. Example: mushrooms are found in the Meadows but used in plains, make that when you hit plains you are able to obtain it to farm/drop. Raspberries are found in Meadows but used in Swamp, make it craftable/droppable when you hit that.
  • https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/ruohxx/add_chickens_to_the_game/ for sure, or as suggested some mobs that drop it after or during Mountain when you reach a new type of arrows, maybe even another set of feathers.

the rest for now looks alright, just some small adjustments on duration and power, nothing major.

Consumables

At the moment consumables are kinda meh. I don't have a real suggestion here but they look kinda odd. Let me try to explain why in bullet point:

  • healings are ok, kinda op but ok
  • poison and frozen are kinda rubbish. The biome after is useless and used only on boss fights. They require a ton of resources but the usage is kinda very limited.
  • Frozen one is only used after you find a wolf cap (after 2 potions you are done) and to retrieve your body if you die.
  • Poison one is only used in swamp after is quite useless. Also is quite useless in the swamp as well as soon as you understand how to deal with mobs. The only nasty one is ooze.
  • They also occupy a ton of space for very low usage.

Teleportation and items

The overall system is good, I like it but there are a couple of things to address in my opinion.

  • Make the nails not transportable, or…
  • Make the nail NOT drop on destroyed items, or…
  • Just put the possibility to dismantle ships and cart

I don't get why you can destroy the cart and ships to retrieve all but not dismantle. After you realize you can destroy and recover all you do is build a network of teleportation and just destroy/reconstruct the ship. Example: my swamp is far away, I go there the first time, make the portal, bring iron back, destroy the ship, teleport there again, rebuild the ship there. Is basically always a one-way trip where you then destroy the boat (the same apply to carts) to go back there.

So either put the dismantle option or make it not droppable/teletrasportable. These two mechanics are in contradiction.

Tier sets, bonuses and upgrades

This system looks very basic and not very rewarding at the moment. Here is the list of issues I had found in my opinion.

  • Set buffs are completely gone after the mountain. Then they became a piece bonus, I think you should stick to one.
  • Upgrading requires a ton of material and is not really worth it. The gear you take after the full upgrade is most of the time vastly superior. Also, I like the set buffs but there is no way to keep those armours up to compete with the new biome set. So you should either put the possibility to upgrade to current biome value (with upgrading material found in the new biome) or multiple sets with the same new biome material and different accessories to allow different playstyle and not only wear the BiS.

Annoying bug note:
Sometimes the boat in "forward 1" is going backwards and become stuck

The game is really really good in my opinion, the foundations are great and look very promising. Those are not complaints but a bunch of suggestions, ideas or what I found odd in the game.
