Surely most people who actively play Elite have heard about the new CG. Someone needs Tritium and is buying it at ludacrous prices. If people are playing even just a few hours per day for this event, everyone who participates will be multi-billionares. Everyone will have fleet carriers. No one will ever have to worry about credits ever again. Where is the sense of accomplishment in this?
I've watched some commanders go from Elite I Trade rank to Elite V Trade rank in just *5 HOURS* of gameplay. Now, to be fair, Trade Rank is easily the fastest rank to achieve Elite V in, but it completely invalidates the accomplishment for those who already had it and for those that are now easily earning it in just a few hours time.
The state of the Elite economy has been rough for a long time. That's a given. Many of the OG players remember how long it took to even buy a new small or medium ship. Now players can buy all of the endgame ships, fully outfitted, in just a couple weeks casually playing… and that's before this CG started.
Now, I'm not trying to gatekeep ships for players by saying that you need hundreds and hundreds of hours played to be able to afford them. I do understand that there are other requirements to purchase them as well, but surely this downplays the hard work and time it takes to get some of the best ships in the game. Once again, where is the sense of accomplishment for players in this?
Stepping into gameplay lore now, who could possible fund this? As of the time of writing this, there have been 5,305,833 units of Tritium (I'm assuming Tritium, because why bother with anything else at that buy price?) bought by this station. At the purchase rate of 413,656 credits per Tritium, they have already spent 2,194,789,656,448 credits. If this is as popular as the Alcor CG, which I have a feeling that it will be, then we're theoretically on par to help sell somewhere in the ballpark of 165,000,000 units of Tritium. That is 68,253,240,000,000 credits. The richest man in the galaxy *just* became a trillionare. I understand that he's just a single person and that massive entities may have more credits, but it just doesn't line up or make sense that a single entity could just shell out that kind of money for this.
This CG is a mistake. That's pretty much all I wanted to say. And am I taking part in it? Of course I am. I'm easily making over a billion credits per hour. Thanks for listening to me vent.
