A new player’s experience

witcher gwent cards

As the title says this is a relatively new player's experience with the game. I've been playing since December. Started with SK because the viking-ish aspect seemed interesting but continued with Scoia'tael because one day I got absolutely destroyed by a Dryad deck and I fell in love with their mechanics (even though at the moment it's the weakest faction).

All I can say is that I love this game, even if it has it's flaws. I mostly play ranked. The deck I currently play is a Guerilla Tactics spell based deck (with Alzur, Simlas and Orbs). I win like 60% of the games but I'm rank 14 so my opponents might not be that tough.

I identified some PROs and CONs about the game during my experience:

PRO:
– compared to HS (the only other card game I ever played) the cost of crafting is much lower (I can craft all the legendary cards I need withing a week of playing);
– the game really makes you think about your every move (no mindless strategy at least for Scoia'tael).

CON:
– many smurf accounts that play NG assimilate or Jackpot that absolutely crush me with pointslam (even tho sometimes I manage to win);
– balance issues (Scoia'tael being the weakest faction is a problem because in my opinion every faction should be able to win at least 50% of their games based on skill).

I might sound pessimistic but I absolutely love this game and I spend a lot of time playing it. I hope the game gets a balance update soon and everyone will have the same amount of fun playing it!

Do you have any advice for a new player? I tried unlocking every Scoia'tael node in the reward book. I hope one day it will be one of the best factions.
