I am currently in pro rank, which I make every season when I actually play Gwent (I sometimes skip patches altogether if I don't enjoy them, for example the GN/Aerondight meta).
What I have noticed that you simply do not get GGs in 90% (by my estimation) of matches you win, no matter what deck you play. I definitely don't tryhard and don't play only 1 deck, so you can't say that it's due to people hating that deck. I've tried every reasonable new deck you can try with the new cards (sy collusion, st symbiosis, nr reavers, ng hospitality, etc) along with some decks from past patches (sk selfwound, st harmony, mo deathwish, ng soldiers) and the result remains constant.
Now you might think that people hate losing and simply do not GG out of salt, but I didn't have this experience when I started playing gwent in ranks 30-3?. To make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass, I started a second account and climbed from rank 30 to ~rank 10, basically (or even literally) without a loss and there was not ONE TIME I didn't get a GG.
The other issue is Alt+F4 when it's clear that they can't win. They are like that one kid on the playground that took his ball and went home because he wasn't winning. There is a bunch of complains on this sub about people rage quitting, and often times this gets excused by arguments like "maybe it was their internet". No, it was not their internet – they never lost connection while they were in the game, only after they couldn't win.
The funniest salty player (and one that prompted me to write this post) was my last match, a person called "OnlyGGForRenfri". They are max prestige level with a 100% collection, indicating that they've spent thousands of hours playing gwent. I have played an exact copy of Pajabol's deck from recent PlayIn event (which ironically PLAYS renfri), wanting to feel it out since I wasnt playing much during the last patch when soldiers popped up. So this person, who presumably likes this game so much they spent an equivalent of a masters degree education playing it, alt+f4'd on last say when it was clear they lost, with no GG afterwards. Now, I don't care about 10 scraps or whatever, but this is clearly their last attempt to spite you after losing. No one would be friends with or playing with people like this in real life.
Why do you guys think this is happening in higher ranks especially, shouldn't people be able to enjoy the game even when they lose? Should something be done to address this?
