Advice - Changing my input device

Hello and good morning my fellow CMDRs.

Pre-flight check:
✓ coffee
✓ jazz
✓ kids are busy elsewhere in the house

I have only about 100 hours into this. Coming from NMS I'm absolutely hooked, and I need help from you CMDRs that have more experience than me.

Right now I use the Xbox elite V2 controller which is nice with the 4 additional back pedals. However… The problem is simply that I run out of convenient ways to program newly found functions in the game as I learn them, in a way that makes sense with what I've already got programmed.

• I have been debating buying a full flight control system, I'm big into immersion but also scared that in the end I'll run into the same frustrations I did with my controller.

• Thinking out loud…. Is joystick and keyboard viable? Left hand controls on keyboard with right hand on the stick… Hmm.. I could see this being fun and functional.

• Either way, I'm going to switch to keyboard and mouse today. In fact I'm getting started right when I'm done writing this. Any suggestions for my layout? I'd love to hear what others do for their controls. It might help me create a layout I'm more comfortable with.
