Balance Council : NR Mages Patience

Ciri Gwent witcher Game card

Where to start with NR Mages Patience…

Let’s face it, that deck is only strong in theory (or at lower/mid ranks). In reality, a bare minimum of control is all it takes to wreck it into oblivion. Its key cards rely on their orders, staying on the right row, sticking to the board for entire or near entire rounds and not loosing their list of 4 meager power base cards

Even when all goes according to plans, it still sucks when compared to any decently competitive decks (may it be pointslams, control, etc). Its winrate seems quite anecdotal in higher ranks and pro rank, dare I say (or it’s just me who’s bad while using Patience and its strategy, but I don’t see it be feared in the slightest by other players anyway)

I mean, when was the last time that such a deck won over you and/or you won by using it?

In short, for the reasons previously stated and imho, NR Mages Patience archetype needs buffs to be brought back to life at a competitive level or at least to be more consistent than it currently is

LIST OF POSSIBILITIES :

(Not saying that everything below should happen, just a list of what could help from wild guesses)

-Strength Buffs : Ban Ard Student (4->5), Aretuza Student (4->5), Alumni (4->5), Aretuza Adept (4->5), Keira Metz (6->7), Shani (5->6), Leticia Charbonneau (6->7), Gerhart (7->8)

(With priority set on the Students, the Adept and Alumni just after them imo)

-Provision Cost Buffs :

-Runeword (6->5), Shani (10->9), Chapter of Wizards (13->12) or even Cintrian Spellweaver (5->4)

P.S: While I reach pro each season, it’s more often during the second half of it or even the end. Rarely at the start. Thus, I don’t consider myself an expert in the slightest. Just a guy who plays a bit daily. Hence, this post is to take with a grain of salt
