I was searching google for why peruvians play on US servers, and found an old post from 2015. In one of the comments the commenter posted several of their matches with peruvian players on dotabuff. The match posted above is the first match that he linked. Clicking through the profiles I was hit with mixed feelings.
– Some players are still actively playing, with last matches minutes ago or few days ago.
– There were a few who stopped but they stopped recently i.e. 2021. Maybe they moved on to playing on smurf accounts?
– There was only one profile I checked that stopped playing early, in 2016.
TLDR Dota is truly an addictive game. 9/10 players who played in 2015 continue to play the game years later.
