Extremely bad FPS lag after a while killing enjoyment of the game..

I've been playing valheim with 3 of my friends and we've spent a little bit of time terraforming and building and progressing in the game… what I've noticed is that at a certain point the game becomes almost unplayable.. I have tried changing all the settings to low and using the force fullscreen launch option command and it has definitely helped but when we are in our building area the game still lags a bunch.

Do I need to upgrade my PC or change something to get better fps? It is really killing the enjoyment of the game… I do not have any issues running other games .. I have an i7-5820k OC'd to 4.2ghz, 32gb ram and 1080TI and playing on 1440p…. Do i need to update my CPU perhaps?
