Had a great night in the Scorpion!

I took the wildest mission I’ve ever done my my 2000 hours in the game tonight tonight from one of those dudes in the concourse in Sol. It involved killing a pirate clan who’d taken a base 220 LY away. I ventured forth in in my DBS only to be waylaid be assassins on the way! 2 Cobras who I killed.

When I arrived at the distant base deep in a crater, no fewer than 10 hostile ships were waiting for me, hovering over the base. Some were elite, and there was Condas, Kraits, Vipers and Cobras packing rail guns. I couldn’t take on so many at once so I led them on a dance for 40km and then headed back to the base only for them to respawn. After giving them the runaround twice more I realised they’d keep respawning so decided I’d have to land a distance away and head in via the Scorpion.

All 10 of the hostile ships opened up on the Scorpion as I reached the huge crater again and I careened over the lip and down an almost vertical cliff with rail guns constantly hitting the shields and eventually taking them down.

Once I reached the base of the crater, and entered the bases no fire zone the ships stopped firing. However, more hell broke loose. 22 soldiers attacked the Scorpion on open ground in front of the base and I had to charge them in groups mowing them down with a combination of simply running them over and using the rapid fire gun which is very effective at close range. The bases defences also opened up on the scorpion but her shields were enough to hold off the worst.

I killed every pirate scum in the base, and took the power regulator for good measure. However those 10 ships were still menacing above the crater so I didn’t dare call my ship in. Instead I raced almost 20km out in the scorpion with them chasing me until eventually they left. The shields went down no less than 5 times during this and I needed running repairs from synthesis.

I eventually called my DBS back and made the 8 jumps back to sol.

As I floated above mercury I was the fucking toast of the bar. 300 thousand I made that night! For 2.5 hours work! If I can do that…. For another 16,666 evenings or so. I could buy a fleet carrier!
