So I was doing planetary settlement and station loops with gold and silver. I don't mind an incredibly slow grind because I'm a dad, and I love elite dangerous for its pacing. so the 4k~ profit per ton was ok.
I was using a DBX, with everything kitted as cargo (even got rid of my Shield generator) and was getting a profit per run of 300k. I was saving up to get a Python, because the system I was using had that, it has way more cargo opportunity, and I figured why not.
I used inara and found a very close system (10ly) had gold going for 300/t, and had 150 supply. I hopped over there and did a few loops. The station also had a ship that I could get now, the alliance challenger. I seen how much more cargo that had than my current so I grabbed that.
I feel like this was a mistake.
None of the modules I have in storage fit this ship, weirdly that this station sold this ship, it doesn't have any modules for it so I'm stuck with class 3s and I missed the fact that this ship has military cores that are useless for me. So I was going to go back to my DBX, but I can't. I had logged out for the night after the buy, and now it's not an option as a buyback.
The gold rush also ended, and now I can't get any decent profitable local trade loops in system (only a few hundred cr even with gold – nothing even is 1000cr~profit/ton in this system). I figured I'd jump back to the system I was using, and start over there because inara is showing the supply and demand haven't changed, and buying the data supports it.
I can't jump out of this system – It keeps telling me it's over my percentage jump limited, and it's because the ship didn't come with a fuel tank, at all, and nothing in system sells a fuel tank.
What do I do ¯_(ツ)_/¯🤦♂️🙍
Edit/update: thank you everyone for the tips. Amazing community :)it wasn't the fuel that was stopping me, it was my mass / FSD which I can upgrade, but I'm looking at dropping to 3s for the others for the time being, and dumped my hardpoints. Hopefully pirates leave me be. I got intersected a few times when I was trying to find a stop to offload the gold, but those are a big portion of my mass so that should actually save me for the time being to get out of this system.
