No portals! Day 174.

Playing this time thru using no portals at all. Things we've learned?

• The stakes are higher. Respect the world.
• Make safe houses – so when you explore your island you can bounce from house to house.
• Create boxes of comfort items and wood to quickly grab for a journey. Pile into a safe house and get at least Comfort 9. Be sure to include beds.
• Be sure you tap the bed for your spawn point wherever you end up.
• Ruins make a great safe house starter kit.
• Explore in pairs, especially burial crypts and swamp crypts.
• A moat is the best defense for the main house (so far).
• Skip iron armour – go from troll to silver/wolf hide.
• Cutting down beech trees near birch trees can help to fell the birch trees, early on, before you get a bronze ax. A painstakingly long process of rolling the beech tree into the birch can yield that sweet, sweet fine wood.
• Tame wolves as early as possible – they will make great house guards for the main base.
• Tame boars early as well – cause food for you and the wolves.
• Build with stone ASAP. Remember you only need 2 iron (plus stone and wood) to build the stone table.

I am sure there are things I am missing. But playing with no portals is terrifying and awesome at the same time!
