The spear guys destroyed me. I was looking far and wide for a proper settlement location, one with mountains scenery and relatively flat ground, where to farm pigs and grow crops. Nevertheless, the first impressions of such a sight after miles of black forest along the coast brought great comfort. Perhaps the long voyage was at last over.
I hadn't yet stepped onto the plains, perhaps I saw something amiss in its coloring under the evening glow. I readied the copper hatchet, as it was time for a workbench. Seeing as I was maybe an hour's sail away, I needed a portal, which I hadn't placed earlier.
There it was, after the pine tree fell, from beyond the hill to my right, behind me, as I was chopping the felled log, I got surprised and dropped 60 health through armor. My stamina was low, so I couldn't run for long. I could only ready the shield and defend until I get my bearings. Alas, one of the pair staggered me (nearly killing me despite raised shield) and the other one finished the job.
Now I'm here, after a moment of pondering on the extent of the forthcoming voyage and prospects of abandoning the upgraded equipment and leather armor, perhaps starting the mining and deer-hunting grind anew. Shouldn't take more than an hour or longer, same as it would to sail there again.
I'm a bit frustrated. The trolls look menacing, yet I managed to kill one in their cave, where it only took some deaths to exercise dodging and succeed without hordes of mobs surrounding you. I never figured I'd suffer such a loss and die so far away, without portals to shorten the journey nor a respawn point set on the way.
It's a drop from heaven to hell when this kind of stuff happens. I thought it was bad the first time I died only a five minute trek from spawn point, when I hadn't built anything yet and wandered into a troll, which I didn't outrun as my stamina usage was so much worse.
