Hello everyone,
I sent an email yesterday to FD's "Press" account asking for permission to use a screenshot. I took one of a random portion in an asteroid field and modified the shapes and textures of some of the asteroids themselves. The lighting and some of the famous background of the galaxy horizon were also removed. All this is to use it as a background for a self-published eBook.
The problem is I doubt FD will be answering any time soon. So my question is am I doing the right thing? I see YouTubers use Elite D's screenshots as backdrops and they monetize off those videos, regardless of whether or not they are Elite related. Is that different?
I'm curious about what you guys think. Am I on the right track and should just wait, or is there somewhere I should look to review such policies that pertain to this?
