The current matchmaking for ranked that has been introduced for almost a decade is not really helping the game.
Pro scene does not benefit from it, serious players don't get any value out of it and casuals (which is half the player base) suffer from it.
Let's take another game as an example that is highly addictive. Fifa and their FUT system, more so the weekend league (at least the one that was a few years back).
The reason everyone was so invested in it year after year, was because it got reset. There was no point in buying an account to play at a higher level. No no, you wanted to grind to that level.
For Dota this doesn't exist. It is just an endless grind that produces only negative effects over the player base. Smurfs, griefers, cheaters, account buyers, you name it, most of it because of the ranked system.
In Dota the closes we have is battle cup but because of the ranked system, battle cup is full of the negative effects from the current system.
Seriously Valve, cannot you see is not doing any good?
