this might sound silly, but watching the XB/Bethesda showcase was a nice reminder of why I love this game

The majority of stuff revealed either looked like typical modern indie games or corporate focus grouped mediocre wash that will be forgotten about in 5 years' time. As much as people will shittalk on BSG's slow pace of development, they're a smaller company that's fallen onto a massive budget and is attempting to do something that's unique, actually worthy of the time and resources they've been given and very heavily divorced from the shambling mess that is the modern games industry. Hell, look at the other Tarkov-type games that have been coming out. Hazard Zone, Marauders, The Cycle, nothing's even come remotely close to matching the depth and complexity Tarkov has, and they don't seem interested in it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is… it feels like the games industry has been a bit in a state of stagnance for the past decade, especially at the higher end, and Tarkov is one of the few games that has managed to actually match up to my projections of how much cooler games would get that I felt at the start of the decade. Does that make sense to anyone else? Do you feel this way? I get this is only really loosely connected to Tarkov, but something about how totally disinterested I was in a bunch of new games coming out, compared to me being hyped as fuck to see a couple of new guns and some minor gameplay features a few days ago, it just stands out to me.
