Hello everyone, I wanted to do a bit of a discussion on the state of Designated Marksmen Rifles and Battle Rifles.
To state a few things: This is my first real wipe. I have about 580 Hours into the game. I have a completed hide-out. Plenty of currency. I have about a 4.0 KD, But I am still quite terrible.
From my perspective having held, operated (hobbyist) and shot a decent portion of these weapons I feel as if Tarkov as a realism shooter has failed to force our PMC's to properly deal with the issues involved with waving around a 3 foot rifle and spraying with it in CQC situations.
In the current system you can take a kitted/semi-kitted DMR/BR/PR, (SR-25, RSASS, Scar-H, SVDS sorta, etc) into practically any situation and come out supremely on top of the fight. There are small down-sides to using such a large and devastating platform in any situation, which in my opinion leads to a dull and quite dumbed down experience.
So many amazing weapons and platforms to experience in Tarkov, so why is it that using a DMR is your catch-all rifle in practically all situations?
If you've gotten this far you deserve at least some points of reference as to why the current way DMR's are handled is absurd.
We'll use the SR-25 as an example, this weapon is 35 inches long (being generous in saying a retractable stock is retracted) That's nearly 3 feet long. Now, a weapon on average slightly more than half your PMC's height is going to be waved around in an environment and slung in 180 degrees to 2 tap someone in an instant?
How would you address the issue, if you could? Any thoughts on the state of higher calibers in Tarkov in general?
Sorry, I'm just wanting to see if I'm the oddball here and if it's just normal for DMR's to be accepted as a catch-all to every situation.
