Unpopular Opinions

Just for fun, saw this in another sub, post all of your opinions on the game that are not popular…

I'll go first:

Mining iron is fun – the noise is superbly satisfying

I've seen a lot of posts about how taking your time to do everything like refuelling torches is one of the best-balanced parts of the game, and how mods and dev commands ruin that. I've also seen people say they love sailing and exploration. So I'm going to say something extra that I think about the game:

Since this game is designed to make the 'boring' parts fun – ie. sailing, hunting, exploring, building – is what makes the game so beautifully made. And the fact that they take time – or the grind – is what makes it so much more enjoyable. And taking your time to enjoy that makes the difference.

During my first couple of weeks I was focused on getting better stuff and progressing and not dying, but then one day, since I had been hunting deer for armour, I came back, wet, refuelled all of my torches, repaired my stuff, checked on my pets, and went and sat down in front of my fire is my house. And that was when I realised that this game wasn't about progressing and the challenge, it was about the fun and the themes of the game.
