Wildlife is now officially hated by almost the entire community.

I am sorry u/EmptyTux and u/FreightTrainUSA to tag you, but i am afraid wildlife is now a source of annoyance to many of us. And it's best to just remove them entirely for the time being for several reasons:

  • Impact on performance

Many of the old gen consoles and old PCs are facing server performance issues alongside FPS drops from them (Old gen player here). You guys even disabled it to improve competitive's server performance. So that's the biggest impact of them all. Reasons are they spawn too frequently that can increase the load on server.

  • They are bugging out overtime

Before patch v21.00, Boars used to dig for resources. Now they no longer do it. Another thing to mention is they ignore the food thrown at them and continue to attack the player instead. Another bug would be prioritizing the players more than husks. Wildlife also clip through the terrain and fall to the void of the map. Which is related to them phasing through structures.

  • They have no use

The consumables are not even worth using, because coconuts still wins over it. They are a lot more worse than husk patrols which can somehow destroy your structures despite them being fully upgraded. And since they spawn frequently, they can consume your trap's durability, which is even worse in ventures where you don't have your trap durability survivors. The only good thing about wildlife is the glowing crows and that's it.

  • Unbalanced scaling

They're a great danger to the player, but they are very fragile to the husks. They are more dangerous than a dive attacking taker in ventures on the other hand. So why is it hard for players to eliminate them if a single husk can take them down easily? Even when tamed, they're weak enough. And their passive perk, despite the claim of it being fixed, it's hardly noticeable. They are more dangerous than a dive attacking taker in ventures.

  • They are causing issues

A lot of posts are enough to show that wildlife is causing missions like Destroy The Encampments to be a hide and seek game for the husks. Where wildlife will distract husks away from triggered encampments. Or husks distracting the hordes in Eliminate And Collect missions. Or hard to do mission objectives in Resupply.


TL;DR: Wildlife was another concept that was executed very poorly in STW. And adjusting it won't help, so it's best to just remove them for the time being as mentioned before.
