Edit: Y'all really need to take a hard look at yourselves. The negativity this community breeds is beyond toxic, and this is a prime example.
All I've done is voice an opinion in terms that make it clear I'm interested in finding the best direction for the game. You disagree? Great. But what's happening here is not disagreement; it's plain nastiness for the sake of it.
The most common response to disagreeing with someone is simply… thinking that you disagree and moving on. Or engaging politely, if it matters to you. This is pathetic.

It's not bad. Not at all. It's very interesting, in fact, and I think it will absolutely make the game trend in the more hardcore direction BSG seems to want.
But I can't be the only one who noticed that whereas with the airdrop event, the boss event, etc., there was a general "HELL YEAH WIPE EVENTS LESGOOO!" across the community, whereas with this event, it's a nonstarter in a lot of ways.
I hoard armor more than anything else. I've got plenty of guns and mags and ammo, but not the exact right kind for each. I can barter for a Grach easily, but I'm not taking a Grach in with a Hex, that would be silly.
Other people hoard guns or attachments or whatever, and they all face similar but slightly different problem.
The restriction the barter-only event places on how you can buy loot cannot be overcome with deep knowledge of the game; it's not a mechanic that's designed so that it's difficult but possible to work around. It's a stone cold question of whether you have enough to afford the 500K someone wants on the flea for, say, a base AK, or if you can find one in raid.
Like running RSASS, SR-25, M4, Mutant, or similar? Good luck finding any of those, or any of the rails or handguards you need, in raid. Or on the flea, god save us from the prices.
And before you say "It's a hardcore game, you shouldn't always get the loot you want." YES! You're right! But I've worked for six months this wipe to earn this position in terms of loot, as has everyone else! We should be able to enjoy this short three or four day period of total joy and reckless fun because we've earned it. The barter even isn't bad, just not in the spirit of a wipe. This is sort of like when they literally stopped the traders from buying shit from us last wipe during the crazy scav event, if y'all remember.
I can't help but feel that if a dozen players had been consulted, maybe highly-experienced players or ETS testers, they could have given useful feedback that would have made this event a lot better, or maybe the feedback would have led them to skip it.
Anyone else?
