Got it in the trade in event for a patriot. Thoughts so far:
- some people call it the polish defender but it's nothing like defender. Defender has reliable hull armor, defender has no gun depression and terrible accuracy, the play style is completely different. It plays for me a lot more like a slow chimera with a more reliable turret.
- Gun handling is very derpy in stock form. Bond or bounty stabs is recommended. I run bounty stabs and aiming in the firepower slot as well.
- Tank does best when slow played as a sniper, kind of like a more dpm but less mobile version of the chimera. I managed to get base accuracy down to .34 without food (.32 with, but I'm not running it) and it can reliably hit tanks from 400m or so most of the time. Just patiently aim all the way and you hit. Reload is long enough to let you reset vision between every shot. Your camo isn't great but you can hide behind felled trees, buildings, etc.
- Turret armor is fantastic and reliable (basically 300mm effective with tiny cupolas) but be careful trying to get the full 10 degrees of side gun depression, the turret ring area just below the turret is made of glass so peek only enough to shoot without revealing the hull. It's not like a lot of gun depression tanks where the upper hull is autobounce if you use all your gun depression.
- Hull armor isn't reliable so much as just randomly trolly so hide it when you can or be prepared to do a lot of trades that will eat up your hp (ie, 240 vs 440 is a decent trade but you'll run out of HP after doing it too much)
- Tank is a great credit earner. 220 pen standard round (gold is 245 apcr, meh) means you can fire standard round 99 percent of the time. And I'm running it without food as well and doing fine.
