It's ok to do nothing and conserve your HP if the situation requires it.
Just because you find it uncomfortable when your dopamine level drops slightly below average for 2 seconds doesn't mean you should immediately go and die for free. If you're able to delay gratification for a minute or two it will probably lead to a better outcome for you.
Don't confuse this with being needlessly passive. There's a right time for everything, but if you want to just donate this isn't the right cause. By virtue of staying alive you contribute a minimum of boosting the effective HP of an ally who can trade on your behalf later in the game, which is way better than just donating.
This is similar to situations where light tank players feel 'forced' to suiscout because of impatient allies pinging the map and writing stuff in chat. Don't let the impatience of the average WoT gamer ruin your battle. You may not know what the hell you're doing in your light tank, in which case the blame is well deserved, but you still inhibit enemy movement/options way more by staying alive than you do after dying for free.
