The wisplight and the wisp torches are only so powerful. Even when you place several torches, it's still really difficult to see. If you want to build a base in the mistlands, you will need torches at every turn and even then, you might still have a few slithers of mist around the place. That's why I think we should get wisp beacons, which are about 10 times stronger, but require refined eitr, black marble and black metal in order to be crafted.
And for exploring, I feel like you should be able to craft a spell that temporarily(about 1 minute, maybe 2) gives you a wisplight effect, but about 2-3 times stronger. It gives you a reason to use eitr in the mistlands, even as a non-magic user. One eitr food should suffice for using this spell, so you can still compensate with 2 health foods.
You still need to work for both, but being able to better adapt to the biome should be one of the rewards of your efforts, similar to getting the feather cape.
