I've made a small guide for the Tarkov community that helps you choose the right playstyle. This is both useful for beginners and people that have a lot of hours dumped into the game.
There are multiple ways to play Tarkov. You can aim for pvp-only, you can just relax and shoot the guy that killed an entire lobby but didn't see you, you can just go for looting (marauder). Those are the majority of the players.
However, not many people know there are more playstyles in Tarkov and today I want to give some insight in a few 'hidden' playstyles.
1) The extract defender
An extract defender makes it his job to make sure people will not extract. He will continuously find ways to cover an extract and this is arguably the most difficult playstyle in the game. Impact grenades could be your default weapon but a lot of times this will not be sufficient. To make it even more interesting, I personally set a rule to kill at least one PMC minimum per raid. If that's not possible, I drop my entire gearset and extract without anything. Both PMC and scav players can apply for this role.
2) The scav killer
A scav killer loads up as a scav character and only hunts for other player scavs. The idea here is to keep a healthy balance in the awareness of other players. Unfortunately, many people still believe playing a scav is some sort of 'safe bet', and they often let their guard down. By introducing a new threat, you are actively helping to spread awareness. Helping the entire community. You're basically a sherpa at this point. It also makes complete sense from a lore perspective to kill other scavs.
I advice to either 1) kill other scavs, leaving them no chance to extract or 2) blacking their limbs, making it extremely difficult to extract but this way you don't impose a penalty on your Fence rep. A very small portion of the Tarkov community thinks this is important, and I don't want to leave a minority excluded.
Hopefully this was informative for people. This is most likely part of a series and I will be back to inform the Tarkov community about other ways to play the game.
