Hello,
Seeing that the wipe is here, I thought it would be useful to provide the community with a list of most of the resources that are available to them outside of EFT. These may include things like game maps, progression trackers, new player guides, really anything that seemed useful in my research.
I would be remiss if I did not mention that due to wipe, most, if not all, of these utilities will become out of date. Please be patient with the developers of these resources. Most of these people are up-keeping these in their free time with little to no compensation. Coming from a developer who has worked on projects that have required updates, please give them some time.
Also, please note that this research may not be extensive. I am one person who is home for the holidays and decided to use my Steam Deck's desktop to write out an idea for a post I had. If there are any mistakes, feel free to post them in the comments.
Without further ado, let's crack in!
*NOTE: To keep things clean, if I felt like a utility dipped into multiple categories (e.g. maps & trackers & etc.) I moved them to General Use.
Player Guides
– 's : Although the material is from 2 years ago, the foundational lessons are still relevant and is a hell of a good guide (if you're willing to read). Just keep in mind that not everything you read specific to the maps, keys, etc. will be 100% accurate.
– 's : Tarkov is horrendously unoptimized. Unless you have a computer magically built for Tarkov, you may get some mileage out of these tweaks.
– 's : Once again, even though it is old you can still find much of the information useful.
– Basically anything listed as an actual guide (I know it might seem lazy, but there are so many Reddit posts creating guides [just like this one] that it'd be very hard to list them all)
General Use Resources
– : Great place to keep up with Tarkov and meet people also trying to escape.
– : A Discord server designed around providing new and experienced players opportunities to play and talk with people who can teach them the skills to survive this game.
– () () : Library of knowledge for all-things EFT. Since there is so much, I will highlight some useful pages (, , , , )
– u/NoFoodAfterMidnight's & 's : Website showing highly important information related to ammo and also has a section for maps.
– u/codenomial's () : Website providing a plethora of utilities such as ammo chart, quest tree, quest tracker, and a key list.
– The Hideout's () (): Fork of the old Tarkov Tools by u/Kokarn. Provides a variety of free utilities like barter profit, hideout profit, and more. based on an open-source project.
– : Neat website to track flea market prices for items among other things. Many of its features are locked behind a monthly paywall even though you can find most of these utilities for free elsewhere (See post). For instance, you can track hideout and quest progression using Tarkov Tracker, and you can use The Hideout's free, open-source API instead.
– : Website that is in the same vein as . Uniquely, it has tabs such as provision utility (best cost per hydration/energy unit) and foregrip utility (best value per ergo & recoil bonuses).
Map Resources
– 's : Shows detailed game maps with community-made points of interest. Helpful for learning exact loot spawns. Reserve & Lighthouse are not free.
– 's : Overwolf add-on that allows you to overlay one of the game maps on your screen. Useful for learning the layout of the maps if you have a single monitor setup.
Progression Trackers
– u/apologistic's (): Useful tracker for your quests and hideout. The "needed items" tab combines all the items you need for hideout upgrades & quests; useful for hoarding quest items early to knock-out those collectathon quests later on.
– u/Sometimepump's () : Website for checking off your quest items, similar to Tarkov Tracker. Uniquely, it does not require a login to use.
Miscellaneous Resources
– : Website that lists all the changes that occur after an update in EFT.
– u/Kokarn's : A website which scans & congregates social media posts by Battlestate Games and affiliated individuals.
– 's () : A community-updated tracker which tells you which map The Goons currently have a chance to spawn on.
– TarkovTracker's tarkovdata : Highly useful public repository for developers looking to utilize the tools used by TarkovTracker and a plethora of other utilities
– ' : Tells you how long you'll have to wait IRL in order for it to be a certain time in Tarkov. Useful for quests where you have to do certain things at certain hours.
Discord Bots
– The Hideout's Stash () : Discord bot based on The Hideout's API. Has a variety of useful commands, such as /patchnotes, /ammo, /barter, and more.
Cross-platform Apps
– : This is a mobile version of the MapGenie website. Strangely enough, unlike the website Reserve and Lighthouse are free. App is free.
– ' () : Provides a mobile library for you to study the firearms, ammunition, body armors, etc. that you will find in Tarkov. Additionally has a penetration chance and damage calculator that is helpful for learning what can 1-tap bosses, among other things. App is free.
– 's () : Similar to Tarkov Sidekick but has a different UI that some might find appealing, especially when it comes to the gun builder. Also has craft profit, barter save, and muzzle combine calculators. App is free, but you can pay to remove ads at the bottom.
– ' () : Similar to the above two albeit with less features but a more sophisticated UI.
iOS-only Apps
– : Appears to be a mobile, offline version of the Escape from Tarkov wiki. Unable to thoroughly test since I don't have an iOS device.
– : Seems to be a similar app idea to Database or Tarkov Sidekick. Unable to thoroughly test since I don't have an iOS device.
Android-only Apps
– 's () : Basically a mobile version of , Tarkov Tracker, and Tarkov Market put together, along with additional features. Densely packed with high quality features. From what it seems, they work in affiliation with The Hideout (tarkov.dev, Tarkov Tracker, etc.). App is free, but has a premium option to integrate with Tarkov Tracker (1 time purchase).
Youtubers and Twitch Streamers
There are so many content creators in the Escape from Tarkov community that it would be impossible for me to do all of the information available to you justice by simply listing off some of the more well-known ones. In this case, I can simply only recommend that you go to these respective websites and find the people you like the most. Perhaps people in the comments can list off some content creators and the community can upvote the ones they recommend, but I will not make a list here.
One thing that you may find useful are Tarkov tip videos. There are so many small little changes you can make to the settings in the game that can make a real difference (hotkeying a hemostat & meds to the same button, removing the double press wait on your reload, and binding inspect and fix malfunction to the same button on press and release respectively all come to mind).
Opinions on What to Use (Feel Free to Skip)
I wouldn't use anything that requires a subscription. Especially since there are so many different resources out there that provide the same utilities for free. Admittedly, it may be difficult or impossible to completely replicate the functionality (e.g. MapGenie's Maps) with free things, but in my experience, you can get pretty damn close. Now that isn't to say that you should discount using something just because some things are locked behind a paywall (like not wanting to use Database for Tarkov because it has ads), but it is something to keep in mind. Ideally, the less tabs and utilities you'd have to manage the better. Pick the ones you like, bookmark'em (I personally have a bookmark folder where I keep all my Tarkov-related bookmarks), and use them whenever you need.
Also, do not discount something just because it is old. Many of the Reddit guides I listed were at least a year old but a lot of the lessons are still relevant today.
