Wolves

Walheim - five bosses

TLDR: when tamed wolves despawn, there should be a chance for them to respawn in already tamed.

I have been attempting to tame a starred wolf pretty much since I found a mountain biome and decided to settle on the edge of it weeks ago. I got a 1* wolf, and it was a great memory; a wolf was attacking my door, even glitching his head through, I figured I’d open the door, kill him then sleep. Turns out the wolf had one star, got into my house and killed me multiple times as my bed was on the ground floor. After a few deaths, I trapped and tamed it, then bred it so I could keep the pups when he despawns. I love my one stars and it’s moments like that which make me love this game so much.

Enter my two star wolf attempts. First one I lead to my base, had to save him from some greydwarves but got him home. Got to 78% and went to check on a chest maybe 20 meters away and he despawned. Second attempt I successfully tamed him at an outpost, I let him out of the pen to breed him with the two wolves I had on standby and he ran away and despawned. Even with the harpoon I couldn’t keep him long enough to get a pup, despite definitely seeing the breeding hearts. I’m beyond frustrated with it, but it’ll only make it that much sweeter when I get one.

I honestly don’t even want them to patch the despawn behavior, it’s part of my story and it would be annoying to see them patch it before I get mine. But to make it less frustrating, iron gate could make it so that when a wolf despawns that wolf is not lost. If it’s tame, there should be a chance it’ll respawn already tamed. It’s like they ran away, but now they’re back. That would make the prospect of losing a wolf more tolerable.
