After 4 years of absence I’ve returned to Gwent and hit pro-rank

the witcher and ciri gwent

Sorry for such blatant title, but it is what it is=)

I have played Gwent in beta a lot, but never managed to achieve high ranks. After Homecoming I've played for a week and then dropped. It wasn't the game I used to like and it was buggy as hell. It felt really frustrating. But I've been thinking a lot lately about how Gwent is going, since I've loved it so much and still remember a lot of funny things – especially some of the voice lines, oh, those voice lines!

I've started playing again around month ago, in the middle of February, crafted some decks, since there were some scraps left. And yesterday I've hit pro-rank, playing with Vampire deck. It was pretty easy to hit rank 5, I think my win-rate was around 70%. Since then it felt up to 60%. Since then my main decks were Pirates and Vamps on the final push on rank 2-1.

Overall state of the game seems healthy to me. There are a lot of decks, a lot of home-brews (big up to the player I've faced twice on rank 1 and final match for pro-rank, who is Shupe SK one trick). There are not that much MO and ST decks, which is sad, because these are my fav fractions. But there are some decent decks for them too, which performed quite well for me. I will share below all the decks I've played so far. As an old player, who have been waiting several months for Homecoming, I think the game is really good. I've played a lot of HS and LoR during last 4 years and Gwent is still unique and feels amazing to play. Good job, CDPR!

Here is my profile

Two vampire decks I used

MO: Classic Vamp

Vampire control

SK: Pirates (my highest winrate deck)

NG: "Basic net-decked assimilation"

SY: "Basic net-decked Jackpot"

ST: Doorfs (played a lot since 30 rank or so, feel really strong and fun to play)

Franceska Doorfs, which is a bit different, but also strong

Also I've tried some other MO decks like Relics, some weird mid-range with Koshchey and some variations of them, but the higher the rank the harder it is to play with them. Vampire is the strongest MO deck imo.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk! Peace to all.

TL;D: Haven't played Gwent since Homecoming, returned month ago and reached pro-rank yesterday. Game is fun and diverse!
