Building a house in the plains is a terrible idea

Maypoles, Flower/Berry Spawns, & Seed Crops should increase honey yield.

I am on a playthrough where I build a house/base in every biome as I progress. So, I spend the copper age living in the dark forest, iron age living in the swamp, etc. I have thoroughly enjoyed the game this time around. Until now. The plains just suck. The music is depressing. The constant spawns and patrols suck. It isn't difficult, it is annoying as hell and neverending. Lox spawn behind me as I walk around. Deathsquitos either spawn inside my house or patrol from a long ways away. I have more campfires, bonfires and workbenches sprayed around at my plains house than in all the other biomes combined. It doesn't seem to have any effect. Every event seems to come with a bunch of local fauna added in. I get the Ground is Shaking and all of sudden 4 fulings spawn right in the middle of the fray. I have only cleared one fuling camp and haven't actively hunted them at all but I have already accumulated a full chest of black metal.

I came into the plains completely prepared after a wonderful time in the mountains. Geared to the teeth. And I have plenty of experience with combating the locals. I appreciate the effort it takes to clear out an area and establish a foothold. It has now been in game weeks, everything has been built. I am stockpiling tar and going back for more iron to build a grand house. I sure as hell won't be doing a big build in the plains. Gonna build an ugly moat around a small patch in order to continue farming barley and flax and tear my existing plains house down.

I really hope mistlands won't be like the plains as far as livability. Or that the Mistlands Update comes with some kind hard defense.
