Why is it if I want to use an srv then I have to land my ship to use it? Does anyone else find it really frustrating trying to find a decent landing spot for a medium ship to land? And god help you if you’re attempting to land a large ship, the amount of times I’ve found a point of interest to explore in my srv but I’ve had to land a couple of km away because the surface isn’t flat enough, I’m literally flying around in a ship that has technology capable of letting me explore a galaxy but it is defeated at the sight of a few rocks? And what if I want to land near the top of a mountain? Not a chance my friend don’t be so stupid, you climb that mountain in your srv from the bottom where it is flat, like a real explorer! Well I have an idea, what if we don’t have to land to use our srv, what if we simply need to be close to the ground, say within 100 meters, we press a button, our srv drops out of our ship and we guide it safely to the ground, all we would need is some jet pack type of propulsion on the srv to guide it and….. oh wait they already have that! There’s literally nothing stopping us, we can already send our ships into orbit after we’ve landed and drive off, why not let us jump out and the ship just sends itself into orbit from that point, or it goes and lands itself somewhere close like it does what we recall it? It could even pick us up in rough terrain if it could hover above us and we boost ourselves up to it, no landing necessary at all! Imagine the type of ships we could create if landing wasn’t a thing it had to do, I feel like this could open doors to whole new ship designs, huge ships twice the size of a corvette that fears no rocks, no slightly inclined surfaces, nothing! Because it never lands! Any thoughts on this???
