So long story short, I did deservingly get put into low priority queue. I'm not ashamed to admit it. One thing I planned to do when learning the game was to practice extra hard with one or two heroes, learn everything about them and pick up more of the game from there. But the times I had to pick someone else, either because my hero was banned or previously chosen, had me extremely frustrated. There were instances after several deaths, I'd go AFK for minutes out, get some fresh air, and come back. The first time I left the game completely, I wasn't too aware of the penalty severity. And the second time I was frustrated, I left accepting whatever the penalty was altogether.
However, after completing my 5 victories in LP, I'd have to say this has been an extremely rewarding learning experience. Granted its just a game mode you're forced to play, but I would of never cared to pick it up on my own. I've had a great time experimenting with new heroes, trying different strategies and getting familiar with some of the guides. It definitely gave me a foundation of confidence to choose ANY hero instead of ones I like, or I think I might vibe with best. I know there are people who would do this on their own without any kind of punishment but MOBA is a new space for me in general and this was kind of the push I needed.
I'm hoping to keep this mindset going back to the All Pick Mode. I've been playing the game for only a week now and really been enjoying it.
