Problem with multicrew—not sure if it’s a bug or by design?

Found out yesterday that when you do physical multicrew with CMDRs on your team and go exploring, scanning and mapping planets, they don’t get shared credit or a shared payout for discoveries. They can do their own scanning in FSS, but the pilot alone has control of the DSS, and they get nothing for having been part of the team.

That doesn’t seem right at all. If we were flying in separate ships as part of the wing, credit and rewards would be shared as long as we were in the same system when the discoveries were made. I’d put together a Beluga build as a dedicated multicrew explorer and we were having a blast with it, two of us racing around in Taipans while a third roved around in an SRV. Found a waterworld and several terraformables together, mapped them, returned to the expedition’s carrier to turn it in but decided against continuing to fly together after making this unpleasant discovery.

I could maybe understand for remote multicrew, but if you’re on the ship, you’re every bit as much a part of the discovery as you would be if you were flying your own in a wing.
