Question about structural integrity and weight

Bones + Beech seeds = Chance of Birch Tree?

There was a thread yesterday about someone's base getting raided and how OP built earth walls to defend it. In the discussion, moats were brought up and that led to a discussion about bridges. I mused that it would be nice to have drawbridges and someone pointed me in the direction of using the large wood door build item to build a kind of drawbridge. In looking into it, I found an old thread where someone mentioned putting weight on the "drawbridge" with the implication being that it would collapse under the weight. Today someone brought up a question about capturing a troll in a hole. And that got me thinking.

Could you build a trap for a troll? Dig out a pit deep enough to hold one, then use floor boards to cover it, making sure that the structural integrity is weak in the middle, but not weak enough that it collapses on its own. Would a troll walking over it weigh too much and cause it collapse? Would the troll even be able to path across the trap? I'm thinking if there's no gap between the outer edges and the dirt, it should be fine right?

I have this image of the 19376 King Kong movie when they capture Kong and it amused me to think of a troll coming crashing after me, stepping on the weak center of the floor boards and falling into the pit. Not sure if it's even possible, but that would make me laugh if it could work.
