I decided to try a silent running anti-xeno build and after a few false starts and one death I've managed to get very competent at killing Cyclopses while running cold. I've killed about 8/9 over the last 2 days. My tactics have been the standard:
- Kill the swarm with flak
- Orbit while attacking at <20% heat
- Take out a heart with gauss
- Back off and then rinse and repeat killing more swarms as needed.
Anyway, today I decided I was ready to take on the Basilisk and it turns out I wasn't. I had to limp out with 20% hull. The problem was that I simply couldn't kill the swarm because the Basilisk goes so much faster than the Cyclopse and will overtake it and start attacking before I get a chance. I can only just get away from it at full pelt in my 539 boost Chiefton (ok 534 with 16 repair limits).
So what should the tactics be?
