If the flair is poor or incorrect, I'll fix it. I didn't really know what to pick.
I stopped playing E:D about 3 months ago now. I don't really know why I quit, but the fact of the matter is that one way or another I just didn't have any time for a game as deep and complex as E:D anymore.
Recently, however, I had to get a brand-new laptop for my major, and suddenly a whole new world of games was opened up to me: the mythical realm of PC gaming. I currently own only 2 games – Faster Than Light and Deep Rock Galactic – but I plan on expanding that library as I go. I've also strongly begun considering getting back into Elite, but not how I initially planned to: Controllers are for peasants (apparently), I plan to commit fully to it this time, and buy a HOTAS setup!
The real question comes down to whether or not my laptop can handle a game like E:D. As far as I know, it is not a low-spec game, and the graphics when I played on the PS4 were enough to blow my mind. Can my (alarmingly hot sometimes) laptop step up to plate?
For reference, I have an Asus G14 Zephyrus (2021 model) with:
- an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card
- an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS CPU
- 16 GB of RAM
- 1080p 144Hz display
- a burning pain in my wallet
Is this enough? Could I, potentially, handle VR as well? Any and all feedback is strongly encouraged and appreciated! Thanks in advance!
