Thoughts on creating a self-reporting community against toxic players?

Manage your Mods easily with Dota Mods

If you're like me, you fucking love dota. Through the item breakers, run down midders, and spam pingers, it is still the most beautiful game in the world. But some days, you just wish that you could get a chance to play that beautiful game.

We have Valve in-game reporting, but it feels like nothing ever happens to those people. Overwatch replays don't matter. You can pay for an avoid list, but it doesn't seem to ever be enough slots.

What if we started tracking and self-reporting toxic players ourselves? Sorta like a "Dota 2 Toxicity Forecast" or "Likelihood of Forest Fires" type thing. It'll do a few things:

  • General idea of how toxic the games are of the day
  • Track list of toxic players and when queuing would be unlikely to run into them based on whether or not they're currently in a game

Maybe if there's enough interest, it'll be a Dota in-game overlay that reveals "true" behavior score?

I think overall, toxicity in gaming has improved dramatically in years (including Dota). We all want things to be better and it might be on us to figure out our own way.
