Let me start by saying that I'm on Xbox, and I can't wait for Odyssey to be ready.
In the meantime, having followed this massive update with interest, and having heard about fleet carriers interiors coming, here are my thoughts about the debate.
IMO, ship interiors would expand Elite's gameplay in more ways than ever before.
– First, it will create a more better link with your ship, and expand the possibilities of role play with your potential crew. Sitting in your ship, drinking coffee while captain is supercruising. Upgrading weapons in your own ship, preparing for battles on the surface while flying.
– With ship interiors, dead ships could be a thing. Imagine random dead ships in systems that you can fully explore, looting, crossing pirates and fighting inside on foot.
– In the same time, it could be an opportunity to expand the PVP and the PVE. With a special tractor beam or any weapon that can disable a ship, imagine being able to board an enemy Conda, making your way inside shooting, negotiating their surrender etc.
– Now missions would be far more interesting and different. Rescue a pilote trapped in deep space inside his ship. Loot a pirate's vessel. Explore a mysterious ship lost in space etc. So many ways to expand the gameplay loop.
So again, IMO, this should be the next major update for Elite if Frontier wants to create new ways to play the game. Not only being able to see inside your ship, but creating a vast new gameplay experience.
I love this game, it has the potential to be more than a conflict zone FPS.
What are your thoughts on this? What major update you hope to see in 2022 or in the distant future?
