Fixing Skill loss

Valheim – Quick Tips to Start

State of the game :
When you die, you lose 5% of their level of every skill.

The problem :
You almost never progress all your skills at once, but all your progression is penalized upon death.
This lead your character to be over specialized in a specific skill-set and bad at everything else.

My thoughts :
The game would benefit from a mechanic allowing characters to diversify and not see their gathering skill go to waste as they go on adventures, their fighting skill decrease as they build and so on…

My solution :
Skill solidification.
Over time, your skills become resistant to loss.
It materializes in three ways :
First, x days after leveling up, they have a chance to not go down when you die. That resistance is buffed by rest.
Once it's solid, a skill can never go under your max level – 10% of your max level (i. e. If you reached level 10, a skill can no longer fall under 9, 13 at level 15, 39 at 45, etc)
And lastly, you get a significant xp boost to go back up your max solid level.

Additional feature : We need a way for friendly PVP to not impact your skill level. I wanna punch my friends without removing hours of progression from them.

Caveats :
A skill only solidify in a comfortable environment (or if you have the rested buff).
A certain comfort level might be required to solidify skills at some point.
The higher the level the harder it is to solidify. If a low level skill requires only a few minutes to solidify, it mights take (in game) days at higher level.

This means that adventuring for long periods of time would not be a good idea (I don't know if I like that) and you need to come home regularly.

What do you think?

PS : Sorry for the formating, I'm on my phone.
