IRL jerky is made from drying out in the sun.
In Valheim, you need Tin for a cauldron and then you can make jerky. Tin requires the bronze age, in which you'd have access to carrots and stews…
Here's my recommendation.
- Honey + Boar meat in your inventory can be made with just the player tab into Uncured Boar Jerky
- Placing Uncured Boar Jerky on a cooking stand in the sun for >1 day turns it into Boar Jerky.
Now you have access to jerky before the cauldron.
I'd also do the same for Wolf Jerky which currently requires a Level 3 cauldron (needs silver). Hunting Wolves it not super easy so it would hard to do really early.
While very sustainable to use the jerkys in game right now, I usually opt for Sausages/Turnip Stew for the boar meat, and Wolf Skewers for the Wolf Meat.
It would be cool having access to Jerky early on. I'm assuming they will continue to expand the jerky capabilities, so maybe lox jerky would require the bigger cooking station.
