Tips for noobs, by a noob.

As someone who started playing this game exactly 1 month ago today (LVL 24) here's some thing's I wish I'd known at the beginning that I don't see covered anywhere else.

Stash management: If you're lacking on space in your stash you generally have three or four options depending on your dedication to Tarkov. 1.) upgrade the game edition, 2.) upgrade your stash in your hideout, 3.) Bags in bags in bags (in bags), 4.) When it comes to gear and guns, use it or lose it. Guns you're too scared to use disassemble and sell to Skier and Mechanic (in that order) or sell on the flea.

What maps? What loot?: Need cigarettes? Ammo? Guns? Toothpaste? Go to:

  • Reserve: Good Ammo, Military-grade junk, Grenades, Guns. (Beware the Raiders)
  • Factory: Level your skills, practice PVP, low-level loot of all kinds, Keys, (SCAVS WILL SWARM)
  • Customs: Fuel, Junk, Mid-Tier weapons, Occasional NVG's, Quest Items, (Beware Sniper Scavs)
  • Interchange: ALL THE JUNK (Go here for Hideout upgrade items, Guns, Fuel, Armor, Meds. (KILLA)
  • Shoreline: NO, BAD, DONT, STOP, (Really good gear here, but do NOT go to the resort unless you are both geared and decently skilled in PVP), Tons of medical and junk loot. (BEWARE LITERALLY EVERY PLAYER)

Medical Supplies?: Do yourself a favor, at the bare minimum always bring at LEAST a splint, painkillers, and a bandage. I have lost several hundred thousand roubles to a simple bleed or a limp. It'll only set you back a couple of thousand roubles and will make getting to extract that much easier.

Guns, Mods, and You: Sometimes less is more. A Vepr Hunter can do the same job as an M1A, albeit perhaps not as well. Dying with a ₽300k+ M4 is so much more painful than dying with a ₽40k- AKM, especially since it's not the gun that makes or breaks a firefight, It's the ammo. Which brings me to my next point.

AMMO MAKETH GUN: Ammo is easily the most important thing in Tarkov, (feel free to disagree). Sure, a face shot will generally kill, but what if they're wearing a facemask? Can your ammo penetrate their armor? Can it do enough damage to break the armor altogether? Or maybe it's best to aim for exposed limbs? (Leg Meta). Your ammo will generally decide this, not you. I highly recommend checking out this ammo table (Ballistics)

That's all folks!: This is all I could think of off the top of my head. Feel free to add suggestions in the comments, as well as to debate any points I've made. I hope this helps!
