Why do I need a forge to nail a sconce to the wall? – An open letter to Iron Gate

How to build a large and tall house in Valheim

Dear fine folks of Iron Gate,

Please consider revamping the way your crafting system requires a nearby forge for installation of things like sconces, iron torches, braziers, cauldrons, etc (though strangely not reinforced chests?). It is a royal pain to lug a forge around a base of any decent size – and worse, it doesn't make any thematic sense.

Certainly we should need to use a forge to, well, forge the metal parts of whatever it is we're building, but why not let us do that at the forge, creating an inventory item for, say, the metal half of a sconce, and then final install at our convenience?

Similarly, for repair: why not let us pick up the item into our inventory and take it back to the forge for repair? Hastily setting up a blacksmith's shop in my kitchen to fix a leaky cauldron is a pretty weird vibe.

Sincerely,

An encumbered viking

P.S. Don't get me started on needing a workbench to raise ground.
