Hi y'all.
This post might be a little long, and I'm sorry in advance, so please bare with me. I'm on Elite since day one, minus longer or shorter hiatuses. I've seen the game grow, get better, but also worse at some points. I've seen the birth of PowerPlay, Horizon, planetary landing, Odyssey and FPS mode, but at the end of the day, what I sadly feel is the feeling that most stuff in Elite Dangerous stays… half assed. I don't really know if I'm the only one in that case.
I came back lately when Odyssey released, and despite the mixed feelings, I took it from the positive side and hoped for the best, that it was just the beginning and that it would age better like a fine wine. It is kinda okay now but I still have that half assed feeling.
In 2014, I was hoping that, someday, Elite would have cities, ship interiors you could run around, interact with random stuff and just fool around, having a fun time. It became stronger now that we actually got space feets last year, and sadly, it still isn't the case, and that is exactly what I mean by "half assed feeling". FDev just doesn't go to the end of things in my opinion. They do something, throw it out like it is and that's it. With space feets I was hoping for those cities that could act as social hubs, where you could see your friends or random unknowns. I was hoping that I would land in a spaceport, get out of my ship from the inside instead of being teleported in front of it and I would get into the city via transports (yes I know it's called SC, but no). With FPS combat, I was also hoping we would, someday, get battles with vehicles, light ships, maybe tanks, instead of just a low-cost Halo or Call of Duty CTF style combat.
Honestly, I wish FDev would step up their game. Elite has such a huge potential and I just feel like FDev doesn't really care or is kinda "meh-ing" at what players would love to see in game. I have big hopes for update 14, I am actually hoping for Thargoid FPS combat, but I'm pretty certain that I'm going to be dissapointed…
I just felt the need to vent that feeling, I don't know if I'm the only one…
