Shupe’s journey

gerald witcher 3 gwent table

I love and hate this card, on one hand it is an interesting deckbuilding concept, on the other hand, for all the restrictions it requires, it is just so bad.

Even if it didn't restrict your units so much it is not worth 12 provision. This cards value is about 12/13 points which for 12 provision cost is already bad and subpar compared to normal golds, and normal golds don't force you into suboptimal deckbuilding.

Sure, verstility has a price, this card can destroy artifacts, lock, have resilence and so on, but since every create option has more that three options, the card is unconsistent and very heavy on the RNG. You might just not get what you want. And some of this options are awful, literally useless. Spawn a random unit on both sides is on avarage a -4 to 6 point move.

All the options have rng in them. Some worse than others but in general the card is designed to be a RNG/meme despite having one of the most cool designs in the game. If this card was a jack of all trades, with 3 situatiational options for each shupe it would be an amazing card.

I was thinking something like this:
MAGE:

  • steal a unit with 5 power or less

  • play a special card from your deck

  • play a bronze special card from your graveyard twice

ARCHER

  • Deal 8 damage to a unit

  • Deal 3 damage to 3 units

  • Play a unit from your deck

WARRIOR

  • Destroy an artifact

  • Gain Resilience

  • Boost a unit by 6

Now, this is much stronger but for a 12 provision card that does force you to have really poor bronze synergy it is acceptable in my opinion. Ofc the numbers can be tweaked but for god's sake get rid of the spawn random randomness in random rows to random units.
