So… Obj. 907, my "holy grail" tank since I started playing WoT. I got it from a CW campaign recently and I want to make it work, but it trolls me to no end. I don't know what it is about the tank, I just can't make it work. Yeah, I get APCR as standard, great! HEAT as a premium shells, great! Camo, wonderful. Good speed, great! Sprinkling of frontal armor to bounce shells here and there + nice DPM = icing on the cake. So in theory, it's great. However… the frontal armor, you can't rely on. The gun handling is bad, depression is bad (same as T-62A), accuracy is… where? Top of turret has hatches and can get over matched.
Now, I'm in an advance, my team mates count on me. This is the scenario: I'm about say… 250-300m away, in a nice hull down spot, with a bush too. I'm far away enough to not get spotted before I get my first shot off. I have 3-4 fast heavies (Obj 277's, IS-7's or 5A's) rushing over a corner. My gun is dialed in, ready to pew pew… I have APCR loaded as standard and pew at their fronts when they come over the corner. First shot… bounce (I'm assuming not enough pen due to losing pen over distance + firing at sloped frontal armor). Second shot… bounce again (figure I try it again, to make sure before switching to HEAT). Third shot… switch to HEAT, miss (starting to get annoyed now). Then the enemy heavies turned and now, giving me their sides, fourth shot… shoot HEAT again, non-pen (only critical, fk, space armor, right). Switch to APCR, fifth shot… miss (fking gun, are you serious?!). 6th shot… shoot APCR again, hit's turret and bounce (I swear I'm going to get kicked… 6 shots fired, no damage?). That's 6 shells fired, all non damaging hits. Eventually, I did manage to get 2-3 shots of damage in, when firing HEAT at their butt's, and one into the side of a turret.
So, the breakdown:
- First shell, APCR, shooting at front of enemy tank = Ricochet
- Second shell, APCR, shooting at front lower glacius of enemy tank, shell goes high = Ricochet
- Third shell, HEAT, shooting at side, shell goes IDEK = Miss
- Fourth shell, HEAT, shooting at side, hits tank = Non pen, only critical
- Fifth Shell, APCR, shooting at side, shell goes high = Miss
- 6th Shell, APCR, shooting at side, shell goes high, hits turret of enemy tank = Ricochet
My questions for the players who play with their 907's. What ammo do you normally use? What is your load-out/ammo mix? Do you just primarily fire APCR and rely on the aim? Is the majority of the shells going out HEAT? Do you let the aiming reticle dial in all the way, breathe in, breathe out, make a small prayer before shooting? How do you guys get damage in this tank? I can make the 140 work, and the T62A work… I can even reliably snipe in the 430… what is with the 907? Do you play this like an ambush tank and use the DPM? I don't think you can reliably snipe in it… Pretty sure you're not supposed to play it like a heavy tank… my average damage is pitiful in the 907, I really want to love it, but… whats up with it? Is it power creeped? Just situational tank to use for team play? Please, chime in.
Thanks in advance!
