“My friend told me [X and Y] are the Impostors” except I’m actually the Impostor?

I came up with this idea some time ago and I’ve been reflecting on it. I’m sure you know about all those posts where people call out scumbag Crewmates that rat out the Impostor to other Crewmates, usually by claiming that they’re in a Discord call together. Well, I was considering a big brain move as Impostor myself where I pretend to be one of the scumbags getting intel from a dead person, and falsely accuse two Crewmates of being the Impostors. They would get voted out and the Impostors would win.

My gut instinct is that this would not be a good idea, both ethically and practically speaking. Even though this is a ploy to lie my way to victory, I would still be embodying the type of player that everybody detests for ruining the fun of the game. Plus, there is a good chance that the other players, in their righteous indignation, would vote (or kick) ME out instead and ruin the plan.

On the other hand, it might also be a good idea to normalize this tactic into the meta so that players are skeptical to accept “Discord call” accusations for fear of being an Impostor trick.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it a good or bad idea? If someone as Impostor did this to you, what would your reaction be during the game? after the game?
